Pictures!

Waking up one winter morning to find that Mom had fixed the camera!

New tool box toy that we love to carry around.

Rockin' piano that we found at a consignment shop. Jerry Lee Lewis anyone?

While babysitting some friends - Malorie as a pirate!

Malorie's tower of blocks!

Corban as a superhero!

The superhero on his ship (he is flying).

My orchid in bloom.

We have moved things around so he can get to the window - this is a standard pose.

He brought me these boots to put on - loves walking around in them. (They are dinosaurs.)

Again with the blankie and snacks and his other favorite item - a balloon.

He loves to wear these safety googles!

Trying to carry Adam's bag - couldn't lift it off the floor.

Our new favorite activity - going outside!

Walking down the driveway with Dad.

Me and my boy!

This was special - he found Adam's ankle socks and gave them to me to put on. He then walked around for the rest of the afternoon wearing them. He has no problem wearing multiple layers of socks.

And my friend Katie and I this past weekend at her bridal shower!

We are now up to date!

update by mad lib

What a year it has been so far! We at the Reinhardt residence have had so many adventures these last few months. My sister Lizzy wrote this Mad Lib to help catch you up. (She felt that it had been too long since our last post and decided to take matters into her own hands. Enjoy!)

Mad lib list:
Season - Spring
Noun - dogs
Verb - ran
Job - acrobat
Holiday - St. Joesph's Day
Verb - jump
Place - NYC
Verb - spitting
Place - park
Noun - clown
Place - Sidney
Person - Matt Lauer
Date - 10 B.C.
Holiday - Pie Day
Illness - Noro Virus
Young Age - 3

In January our spring has had very little dogs. Adam spent his time running while Alicia remained acrobating at the library. On St. Joesph's day Douglas started jumping!! Now we spend a lot of time chasing him around NYC.
In February, Adam continued spitting for his big certification exam and Alicia continued at the park. Fiona, our parent's dog, was getting very sick and we had to say our goodbyes to her and had a nice clown as we buried her in Sidney.
March brought the big day for Matt Lauer with his big exam on 10 B.C. Later that month we hoped to have a fun time celebrating Pie Day but we caught the gross Noro Virus that has been going around. March also brought us to Alicia's birthday when she turned 3 years old. We had a nice family dinner to celebrate and it was fun to spend time.
Hopefully you will see more posts now that Adam's big exam is done!
Sincerely - Liz Irvine (Alicia's Sister and author of this mad lib).

Holidays and a hack job

Who can resist a christmas sweater for their wine?

Hello friends -

I write this from my week of vacation after having made it through all of the holidays. It was a fun but busy few months.

First was our second annual Turkey brining. As you can see there is the first annual with Douglas being almost a month old and then here is the second annual with Douglas being over a year. Quite the size difference!

Here are some pictures of his different christmas outfits that he got to wear in the month of December. They were all sized for 18 months, but man they all fit him differently. Of course my favorite, and what ended up being the actual smallest outfit I had saved for Christmas Eve. Oh well!

I did get some baking in for the holidays, which was exciting for me. This year I a made some Czech Kolaches (recipe included at the link) and I think they were a success! I made them in honor of my grandmother on my Dad's side who is from Prague originally.

Douglas even got into the Christmas spirit by helping with the ornaments and with the wrapping!
He was always trying to get that small stocking!
Douglas helping Dad wrap my 8 cup Pyrex measuring cup, the best!

Douglas' current mode of transportation - he only goes backwards on it.

We also just gave Douglas his first hair cut - really just a hack job. His hair has been getting long over his ears and on the back of his neck. And, Douglas loves to play with his ears during dinner, so he is constantly getting his food stuck in his hair. So, Adam and I tried to trim around his ears and along his neck line, just to even it out. Very hard to do with a boy who is constantly trying to look at the scissors as you are using them. I think Adam thought he was going to stab him in the neck a few different times. It got done without to much fuss or hardship to Douglas, but it definitely isn't the best job we have ever done. Thus - no pictures. We can record the event taking place, but don't need to keep the look of it for posterity. Here's to future hair cuts that will look better! (Anyone who has tips for cutting a small child's hair with scissors - we would appreciate any advice!)

Here is to a Happy New Year!

Let's see what 2012 has in store for us.

Its that time of year, when the world starts to sing...

Every song you hear, seems to say.
Merry Christmas, may your New Years dreams come true...

Okay, I can't remember the rest of the words to the song. But as I sit here, the CMA Country Christmas is on the television for the 3rd time this season and I just watched Vince Gill sing with Miss Piggy. As we are quickly approaching Christmas, we are also quickly approaching the end of Adam's last semester of classes. Next semester will be only student teaching and boards, yippee! So, Adam has been living in a world of projects and papers and exams. Every now and then he is able to slip away from the books and these pictures will show you all the activity of the past few months.

Here is Douglas on his actual birthday with his first ever cake. He really didn't know what to make of it and just kept staring at us. Nanna had to help him stick his finger in the cake.

After dinner, we dressed up in his Halloween costume (which is a duck) and crawled around the house. There was only one group of tricker-treaters this year and they came before he got into costume, so I was the only one to enjoy it.

At his birthday party, he still wasn't sure what to make of the cake (though he knew what to do with the party hat).

He was a little more daring to try and touch the cake himself.

But, he wasn't a big fan of how it felt on his hand (or the people singing to him). Maybe next year.

His good friends, Corban and Malorie were there and ready helpers in opening his presents.

Since his birthday, Adam and his Dad did get the red roof on our new back porch and it looks great. There is no picture as the cold has kept me away from outside and it is taller than me, so I wouldn't be able to do it justice. Douglas and I went with my parents to cut a Christmas tree down, he was amazed at the amount of trees and people all in one place and also the singing chickens.

Last Christmas was a lot of fun and quite an experience with a 3 month old and I suspect that this Christmas will be another new experience with a 1 year old. Let the fun times begin!

Now one last picture to leave you with... Adam studying in our new set up of little people furniture. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!

Let's get right to it!

Yes, it has been a while since we have posted. Without further ado, let me show you what we have all been up to!

Douglas worn out buy a busy morning of camping. Nothing like sleeping in Nanna's arms!

Hanging out with Aunt LJ by the water.

Trying to eat/drink Daddy's spritzer (one of Douglas' favorite drinks, mind you).

Apple picking with Mama

Apple eating with Uncle Jay

Eating more apple

Climbing into the fridge

Playing with hangers

Being cute

Getting into Mama's plants...

and cupboards...

and pots and pans (we might have a master drummer on our hands).

Getting shoulder rides from Dad (they love to gallop around the house).

All while Dad and Papa have been building a new back deck.

Just waiting for its new red roof!

It has been a busy past month for sure. In the background of all this, Adam has been ramping up for midterms, I have become the acting director of my library, and Douglas is about to turn 1!!! How has it already been a year since he was born!? So, needless to say, we are keeping ourselves busy.

Next on the agenda - a first birthday party!

Till then, a happy early Halloween to all!
